This project investigates sustainable housing and mobility for the planned Schumacher Platz at the future Urban Tech Republic at the now-closed Tegal Airport. Once used as an airport, the site will become the “Berlin TXL, The Urban Tech Republic,” a science, technology, research, and innovation hub. Berlin requires community housing due to its growing population. Mobility hubs are integrated into the site as well; a mobility hub provides a focal point in the transportation network that incorporates different modes of transportation. The approach taken to this study revolves around circulation and sun patterns. With this information, the design process followed 2D drawings of paths cutting through the chosen site to break up massing, creating valuable outdoor spaces.
